Bill Strehl October 31st, 2012, 04:50 PM Just a followup to my post. My shipment arrived today, one day ahead of schedule. I see the ad is still running. For those of you still interested, for $933, which included free shipping, I got the following:
GH2 body with 14-42mm lens (in separate boxes) $649
20 mm lens $284
Patriot LX Series SDHC card (free, but valued at $22)
Tamrac/TEK bag #4398 (free, but valued at $30)
Thanks to Samy's and to Penny who took my order!!
Terry Wall November 9th, 2012, 06:17 PM I snagged one from Samy's too! If you prefer to buy locally (B&H is in New York...I ain't!) so you can "kick the tires," so to speak, and you live in CA, you gotta love Samy's! And they'll match B&H pricing. Only down side: we get to pay CA state tax. AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!
Bill Strehl November 10th, 2012, 11:16 AM I was tempted to buy another cause the price is so low, but I'm hoping Panasonic will have a fire sale on their website once the GH3 is released.
I tried to get 43rumors to post info about the sale but they never posted anything about it.
Terry Wall November 10th, 2012, 11:43 AM Bill, every time I look at the Panny website, their prices are higher than those offered by the big retailers (B&H, Samy's...heck even Amazon). So when the GH3 is broadly released, I don't expect them to do anything out of their ordinary.
Bill Strehl November 11th, 2012, 12:25 PM Terry:
You need to have an account on the Panasonic website and depending on what "connection" you have you get better pricing when there is a sale.
Panasonic employees get the best deals.
I have a facebook account and one I got through the consumer electronics association. The prices offered on those two accounts are often different and are always more than the employee price.
For instance, a couple months ago, using one of my accounts, I could have gotten the GH2 with the 14-42mm lens for $649 plus tax which was $39 in my state. I passed as I really only wanted the GH2 body. A person who had an EPP account (Panasonic) said they could have bought it for $599.
In January of 2011 I bought a GH1 with a 14-42mm lens for $402. I think the better price was via my Facebook account as opposed to my CEA account. Usually it is the opposite.
Bill Strehl November 11th, 2012, 02:39 PM I just checked today and the deal is no longer being offered.
Alan Halfhill November 20th, 2012, 12:31 PM Amazon had a fire sale yesterday for it for $499.00. Friend bought one.
Guy Smith November 29th, 2012, 08:30 AM If you missed the Amazon deal, Samys has the GH2 for $549 this weekend - and the GH3 with two lenses for just over $4k (13 - 35 & 35 - 100 f2.8).
Bruce Foreman November 29th, 2012, 06:33 PM Guy,
How about a link to that "sale"? I just searched on Samy's website and they are listing the GH2 with 14-42 at $779. The G3 is listed at $549 (and is out of stock) but it doesn't have the same motion picture capabilities.
B&H has the GH2 with "kit" lens for $699.
Bill Strehl November 30th, 2012, 07:06 AM I checked yesterday and couldn't find the deal but it is up now in the weekly ad section located in the upper right corner of the ad.
