Sony Global - CX-NEWS Vol.69 (http://www.sony.net/Products/SC-HP/cx_news/vol69/np_imx144cqj.html)

Examine the pdf linked at the page bottom - 12K @ 35fps!!

In a Point & Shoot and consumer camcorder body (likely coming 2013)!!!

Very exciting and I'm putting off all purchases until then - 4K seems so obsolete suddenly.

Not seeing any reference to 12K but I see 12MP 4K imaging being talked about.

Please see the linked PDF at the BOTTOM of the page linked in the first post!

Page 1: "Supports 12.40M-pixel imaging at approx. 35 frames/s"
"4K and many other modes" "4K 60fps"

Page 2: Chart at bottom shows modes it can record in:
4000H x 3000V @ 35fps (ie. 12K!!! =D )
8k, 2k, 1k, etc modes listed. (eg. 1.5K @ 240fps)

Ok I see what you're talking about. 4000X3000 isn't 12k it's 12mp. 4000 horizontal resolution is pretty much 4k video.

Yes this is 4K and 4K is a long way from being obsolete. Maybe in 7-10 years.
