Hi everyone:

A friend asked me to help him research if there is a better, simpler, way or even software that can handle slow motion. He shoots with Canon 5D to shoot, and has FCP 7 to edit witjh. At the moment he uses Twixtor.

Based on what I research I've only found a couple of options, but I'm not really certain if there are any better than twixtor.

1) After Effects

2) Playing with the Optical Flow filter that ships as part of Apple Motion.

Wow, guess I picked a klunker of a question to ask. :)

Well, since Twixtor is quite good and fairly simple, I guess people here think your friend's slo-mo choice is sufficient.

Thanks Peer:

I appreciate your input. I wasn't sure if that was the case, or if I had picked an uninteresting topic.

Sincerely

Yeah, Twixtor is pretty much the standard for slow-motion effects.

Of course, the more data you have to begin with, the better the results will be. The 5dmkII is at a disadvantage here, as it is limited to 30fps. A camera that shoots 60fps will allow for more frequently accurate motion estimation and better results.
