I am looking for a tripod capable of carrying an EX-1 and a teleprompter and came across this item on eBay which says it can carry 55 lbs. Has anyone had any experience with this tripod or know anything about it. Google doesn't help much except for the eBay listing. Thanks.

Very simple answer is no. For the EX1 plus teleprompter I'd be looking at the Vinten Vision 5 or Sachter DV10SB range. I've got a very similar tripod set up to the EI710 you're looking at and I would never let my EX3 sit on it. I strictly use it for DSLR and small camera lock down shots.

I'm sure it would hold your setup, but I can't help but think you could spend that $2,400 on something a little more...name brand? Not to be snooty, but the resale value (not to mention the warranty) might be a little disappointing on something other than a major name brand tripod/head. Buy a gently used setup from a major manufacturer and you'll stretch your dollar even further.
