View Full Version : Audio Streaming Problem

I have a Canon XL1-S and I am using it for live video capture into a computer using firewire. The program I am using to live capture the video is Adobe On Location. I am using a 4 channel audio mixer that I have connected to the camera's audio input. I can see the sound signal in the Camera's built in audio mixer and can hear the audio on the camera through headphones, so I know the audio input is correct. My issue is that when I stream to the computer, I am only getting the video signal and no sound.

I first thought that maybe something was wrong with the camera. So I began troubleshooting. I first tried playing a tape in VCR mode, streaming it to the computer. I get video and sound with no issues. I then turn the camera back to camera mode, hook up the on board microphone, and I get sound and video into the computer. So then I disconnect the onboard mic, and reconnect the external audio mixer and the sound from the camera goes dead, but I can hear it in the camera. I cannot understand what is causing this. I'm sure it is probably some stupid setting that I am overlooking, but I cannot figure it out for the life of me. I would like to get this sound output working correctly. Does anyone have an information of suggestions I can try.

Thanks

Hi, Brian.................

Sorry about the delay in the response, had to give this one some serious thought and a thorough scrute of the manual.

First, if you wish to use the RCA audio jacks for input, you need to slide the Audio Select switch on the side of the camera to "Audio 1"

Then you need to dive into the Menu and dial up "VCR Setup", Select "Audio In" and assign the Mode to whatever you're feeding those jacks with.

All on page 50 of the Manual, in conjunction with page 24.

Hope this helps.
