I need to overlay date and time on the video - can the Panasonics do that?

Just to be clear, I am not concerned with the metadata; I need the date and time to be superimposed ON THE VIDEO, both the recorded and the output video for legal work.

yes....GH2 can....don't know about the GH1. but you have to run it through a program such as vdts (video date time stamp) for it to show up.
At least that is the only way I have gotten it to show....
