Has anyone noticed an Auto Iris issue with either the Z7 or the s270 camera. I use the HVR-s270 with the standard VCL-412BWS lens. The situation I found myself in featured a singer in of a window with heavy drapes and only a small vertical slit allowing very bright outdoor light to enter to whenever she stepped to the left or right, otherwise she was blocking the light entering through the window. When the light was blocked she looked fine and my iris reading in the viewfinder indicated a F3.7. But when she moved left or right, the outdoor light caused to scene to go very dark, but the iris still indicated F3.7. The lens was set to manual iris. All other AUTOS were set to OFF. I could still manually open the iris to a F2 but the scene was still dark. Drove me crazy! How do I turn auto iris off?

OK. Solved. Auto shutter was on.

I guess the question remains, why was the auto shutter turned on? All autos were off, is there a menu setting I'm not aware of? I turned off auto shutter using the small switch in front of the camera. I can't seem to turn it back on using this same switch.

Unless the 270 is different than every other Sony professional camera I've ever used, there is no menu setting for the auto shutter. Your turning it on and off using the switch should be all there is to it. Have you checked the manual to see if there is a menu setting that you and I aren't aware of? If you don't have the manual you might find it online somewhere.
