UWOL 23, with the theme, “A Force of Nature,” brought nine beautiful, insightful, fun and educational entries by some very talented and creative players. Every one of the entries is a winner in its own right! But, we made ourselves judge between them and pick a winner. It was a tight contest, which is always good--it shows the dedication of the fine people drawn to the UWOL Challenge.
We love giving a special thank you to Chris Hurd, who so kindly gives UWOL a home, not only here on DV Info Net, but by providing the special Vimeo home where we can showcase each challenge. You are the best, CH! And, as always, a bow to the lovely lady who created and nurtured the UWOL Challenge, Meryem Ersoz. Betcha money she’s still checking in and enjoying your entries when she gets little snatches of time! Finally, huge, huge thanks to all of you who got out there and completed your entry! You have given us so much enjoyment and, hopefully, turned out work that you found fulfilling. It is always gratifying to look back on past entries and be glad we put forth the effort.
Now, on to the matter at hand. Because there were nine entries only the winner and runner up will be listed. Info on your own film is only an email away if you are curious.
Runner Up: “Natural Elements” by Per Johan Naesje
Absolutely stunning images, Per Johan, of one of the most beautiful forces of nature on the planet--a secret to so many of us until you took us there with such style and skill. Thank you!
The WINNER of UWOL Challenge #23: “The Source” by Simon Wood
Well done, Simon! Two forces of nature--a formidable and powerful river, and the lesser force that dares to engage it. Thank you for taking us on the journey with your amazing storytelling and video images. This is your second UWOL Challenge win, and we are very proud of what you have done. Congratulations!!
That’s it for now, folks!! Check back here in August to sign up for the September challenge! And please…one or two of you regulars send a reminder to the one who posts the sign up thread so she’ll get it done on time!! :)
