My name is Lowell and I just joined the DVInfo forum. I've spent the last 50 years creating photographic and video images mostly on the sidelines as an amateur and once in a while as a professional. In the 60s and 70s my world revolved around film cameras and darkrooms. I worked in studios, custom labs and was even as a still photographer in the Air Force. When the Apple II plus was introduced to me in the late 70s, technology became my passion and photography was sidelined. I spent the next 35 years deeply involved in mainframe and desktop computing as both an analyst and programmer. There was however a deep desire to continue to develop my craft as a photographer through the use of video technology. I traveled the path of video technology from the early linear days to today's incredible digital age but unfortunately always as an amateur on the sidelines. Now that I have begun my retirement, I want to focus my energies on the passion I have always had for the craft and technology of video. Even though it's a bad time to think of starting a business, I feel I need to justify to myself my family the investments I have made over the years in equipment, software and time. I look forward to being a member of your forum and learning from all of you.
