Does anyone have a suggestion for a decent field monitor for outdoor use. My EVF is broken and the LCD screen is pretty ineffective in bright sun, even with a hood. I seldom use the EVF anyway.

A company called SmallHD make a DP4 which works great and is fairly well priced.

The DP4 is a fine monitor but not considered daylight-viewable. Specs vary but generally a monitor needs to demonstrate 1000 NIT's brightness for that category and should also have anti-reflective coatings. SmallHD is developing a 7" monitor in that realm.

There are various options available but many are quite expensive. Probably the least expensive will be the Marshall transflectives which aren't quite as bright, but harness the sun as a backlight element to boost contrast.
