A torture test really:
A short dynamic range test of the Sony VG-20- YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlvGz8JuEGU&feature=youtu.be)

It's no Alexa, but the DR is fair to good for a camera in this price range. One other note, I think the grain structure is quite organic.

Very nice demo, John
I have a VG-20 also & have been very pleased with it's performance.

Thanks Robert - I think the next test will involve something similar, but with a model so as to judge skin tones.

The problem of course is we don't know how many stops are represented on screen between highs and lows.
So we are not seeing what actual dynamic range may be.

I do think the VG20 has a very nice range. I have actually converted its footage to Cineform, then put a Cinestyle input on it, and it show a lot of shadow and hightlight detail, that may not show up in the way the image comes of the camera.
