Some of the work I do requires recording the date and time on the video. I could do this easily on the Sony A1, but having replaced that camera with the XF100, I find I get much better infra-red footage, but don't seem to be able to record the time on it.
So far as I can see, the manual mentions only displaying the time and date while recording, but nothing about actually recording it.
Can anyone help please.

Page 27 in the manual describes recording the date and time.

Try freerun timecode (as time) and the "character on" (menu) function with customizing Onscreen Displays (page 43, 108, 150).
Character Rec - When this function is set to ON, all of the onscreen displays will be recorded to the clip exactly as they appear on the screen.

Thank you both for taking time to reply.
David - I did look through the menus but saw nothing obvious that said it would record date and time. I will have another look.
Pavel - your solution looks sensible, I will have a play with those settings when I have time next week.

You can storage all menus of the XF100 to the SDHC card, so with two SDHC you can change all setting XF100 (clear display with time or freerun timecode and character rec ON vs. your usually setting with character rec OFF) in one minute.
