Dan,
I consider to move from my beloved nanoFlash to the Gemini one day. I have a few questions:
Does the Gemini 4:4:4 have a prebuffer option?
When is the planned 60p support scheduled?

Even 720 60p will be fine for me as a 3D recorder with a monitor.

Dear Cees,
No, the Gemini 4:4:4 does not have a pre-buffer option.
At over 200 Megabytes per second, depending on the frame rate, having enough fast memory for even a few seconds of video is hard to provide without raising the cost of the Gemini 4:4:4.
The Gemini 4:4:4 has lots of internal memory, but not enough for a pre-record buffer, sorry.
1080p23.976, (23.98), 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, and 60 frames per second, all progressive, all recorded in 4:4:4, (even from 4:2:2 cameras) will be available in our next firmware release.
Our next firmware release, a free upgrade, is currently in final reliablity testing and is due out in two weeks.
This is a free firmware update.
In addition, our ARRIRAW Option will be built into this firmware release, and this is an extra cost option.
To allow those who have an ARRI ALEXA and a Gemini 4:4:4, one can use the ARRIRAW Option in demo mode, and there will be a watermark on the image. This allows one to test the option and their workflow without purhasing the ARRIRAW Option.

Dear Cees,
Yes, that is completely different.
With a compressed codec like DNxHD, we should be able to implement a pre-record buffer (Record Cache).

You should be able, as you say. But will you? I hope so, for wildlife filming prerecord buffer is very valuable.

Dear Cees,
We have not discussed this internally so I do not want to commit to a Pre-Record Buffer feature at this moment.
However, I feel that this is an important feature, and it is certainly technically possible, so I definitely want to include this in our list of features.
We work as a team, so after we discuss this, I will report back.
