I was wondering what people would recommend in the following situation.

I have a PD-170 with the sony wide angle and a PD-150 with the standard lens. We always use these two cameras for weddings and I got to thinking about the best way to use them.

We typically will have one up front on the faces of the B&G and one behind them. The question is should the one from the back have the wide while the one in the front have the standard? Again, the front one is zooming in and capturing their faces in closeups.

Wide angle lens for the closest camera. I have one with and one without, as you've described. The wide lens comes in handy with the prossesional and especially when the bride approches the alter and ussually passes within 2 feet of my camera. I'm always able to get super close for this and the giving away, which definately would be a problem without the wide lens... my shots would probably be just of an ear instead of a faces & vail. Don't get me wrong, I do cut to the back camera now & then when I'm out of the shot but these wide/close shots are one of the things that seperates the men from the boys.

Thanks so much for the reply.. Which brings me to another question. Since I have a few of these under my belt now.. Is there anything wrong with being in the center of the aisle for the processional and then once the handoff is made, move out to my location?

For 95% of venues - that is how I do it. However, sometimes the position of the B&G for elements of the ceremony and the position of the wedding party, and/or a restrictive/small layout of the venue will make it difficult to get a good shot from another position after the handoff. So occassionally, when my hands are tied, I just move back a bit and shoot the whole thing right there from the center isle.
