View Full Version : have you gotten used to this?

Having almost used up my FCP X trial period, I keep missing the lack of controls under the viewer. It was second nature to me to scrub, set in/out points, etc. there in FCP 7, then drag my selection to the timeline. Now the editing process seems more awkward. I feel like there's a command or pref somewhere that will magically add that stuff to the UI..but I guess that's wishful thinking.

Otherwise, I like X so far.

Anyone agree/disagree?

I've been using FCPX from almost day one, and I find it a real PITA when I start using other programs like Premiere now.

I would recommend that anyone thinking of going ahead with FCPX to get the Ripple Training course (or something similar) to get up to speed with the workflow and the whole 'new paradigm' (including the controls).

Once you get in to the FCPX groove it becomes extremely efficient, and for me there is no looking back.

Do you like the skimmer for setting in's and out's?

I hated the skimmer at first but eventually I could see how useful it is. The viewer is still frustrating as I always loose in and out points by accident but I have become very diligent with the "F" key once I have set an in and out in the viewer. "Favorites" are not perfect in some ways, a big improvement in other ways. The viewer is still a work in progress.
