Anybody edited 5D3 footage with FCPX?

Yes. So far so good. Much easier to import (as well as make proxies) compared to FCP 6 (which I was using up until switching to FCPX). I'm working on a project with a 39 angle multicam clip, and with proxy playback, it's working pretty smoothly on my aging Mac Pro 1,1.

Jim, what workflow are you using, if you don't mind sharing.

Thanks,

Charlie

Does the Mark III show up in Camera Import? I'm not seeing it 10.0.4. I can import entire files off the camera's card or from my hard drive, but I'd like to be able to select in and our points.

Since I posted this I have purchased and used the MK lll. I do not import from the camera. I just stick the SDHC card into the Mac and import the files I want to a folder, which I then use to create a new event. When I use CF cards, I do the same via USB.

The files import nicely into FCPX. I almost always let it convert to ProRes in the background. It seems to go faster than files from my MK ll.

One thing you need to watch: The MK lll images are a little softer than the MK ll, but adding a little sharpening when needed makes that issue go away.

As far as in and out points are concerned, I set those in the event browser.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the camera and the software.
