Hi all,
I extracted video from a DVD using Mac the Ripper. Took it into streamclip and converted it to DV for editing in FCP. I've got heavy pixellation. Esp. upon QT export.

FIles are 720x480,. At full size, a QT movie exported straight using current settings yields pixelation. I"m also tried exporting QT conversion H264 with the same results. It actually looks boxy in FCP (thought maybe it was the preview). It does appear to match the sequence settings.

Not seeing pixelation in the DVD footage. And it takes forever to export the clips at H264, like 30 minutes for each 4 minute clip, even with a reduced size.

Suggestions on how to fix this are much appreciated. It's time-sensitive and I"ve already spent several hours today troubleshooting, to no avail. Thanks =)

Anyone?
Is there a way to get higher quality video from a DVD/ Preferably free?
Thanks

If the programs are giving you problems, what about recording the DVD from a player to a camera that will take analog in. You really won't loose much quality and it would give you less headaches.

You should be able to edit the file natively, without any need for conversion. I am not too terribly familiar with FCP but both editors I use can do it (Edius and Adobe Premiere).

Any conversion just adds quality loss.
