Hello There,

Still loving my EX-3 for doc shooting after all these years, here's a short doc I shot on EX-3 and color graded with DaVinci Resolve:

Professionally made, but I have the impression that some of the shots, especially those with a white shirt in them, are overexposed. This often strikes me in EX3-footage.

In the interviews done in the classroom under the florescent lights, did you add other lights? If so what did you use?

Thanks for your comments!

Luc: I'm not sure if I'd day that the EX cameras are bad at handling highlights. In these types of shooting conditions I'd rather have a white shirt lose some detail than expose the whole image down to preserve those details. I don't believe in the "expose to the right" school of thinking. White shirts can be tricky even in controlled lighting situations.

Les: I lit a few shots in the first school with an Arri 1k with a Chimera, but the rest were all available lighting, due to time constraints. The first 2 interviews in the first school were shot with the lights off using daylight and a reflector for some fill.

Cheers,

Gerry
