I've always been one of those jack-of-all-trades master-of-none kinda guys. I've been employed at the same company for the last 8 years and it has been even longer since I've done a demo reel.

Recently I found out that my current position is being relocated, so I decided that is was probably time for a new reel. I couldn't decide if it would better to make one reel or several each highlighting a specific area of work. In the end I decided doing several was the way to go since I have no idea of what I want to, or will be, doing next.

Here are my 3 new reels. Would you keep them separate or incorporate them into 1?

I would think separate for each discipline. Tailor reels to the job you're applying for.

Why would someone hiring a DP want to see your motion graphics skills?

Why would someone hiring for motion graphics want to see your DP skills?

Etc.

Might even further subdivide into subject matter: Weddings vs. Feature Film vs. Corporate Video, etc. if any or all those apply.

I would think tailoring your approach to be as specific to the job you're after (assuming you send these reels when applying for specific gigs) would be the way to go.

That was pretty much the conclusion I came to. I didn't go so far as to break it down by category, other than not including any wedding stuff as I only do a handful of those a year and that is certainly an industry to itself.
