I have talked to people who have used it and it is a great lens but does the GH2 support IA operation with it?

Jim,
Yes - as long as you use a Panasonic or Olympus OEM adapter such as the Panasonic DMW-MA1 (http://www.adorama.com/IPCDMWMA1.html), Olympus MMF-1 (http://www.adorama.com/US%20%20%20%20478168.html) or MMF-2.
There are less expensive 3rd party adapters, like this one from China (http://www.ebay.com/itm/JY-43F-Four-Thirds-to-Micro-4-3-Lens-Adapter-for-Panasonic-G1-G2-G3-G10-GF2-GF3-/250945584582#ht_3650wt_1037), but they may not be 100% compatible.
You can also get an even less expensive "dumb" adapter like this one (http://www.adorama.com/CZLRMM43.html), but you would have no IA, no auto aperture, and no autofocus.
I was able to find a used MA1 for about the same price as the Chinese unit, but I had to shop around for quite some time.
If you need it now, I'd go ahead and buy it new or used from Adorama (http://www.adorama.com/IPCDMWMA1.html) or Amazon.
Hope this is useful.
