Can the NX70 Shoot time lapse videos? Can you adjust the shutter delay? Anyone know of some example videos shot like this?
View Full Version : Time Lapse shooting on NX70 Ed Henderson March 21st, 2012, 09:38 AM Can the NX70 Shoot time lapse videos? Can you adjust the shutter delay? Anyone know of some example videos shot like this? Ed Henderson March 21st, 2012, 04:04 PM I have searched through the manual for the NX70 and found nothing that leads me to believe this can shoot time lapse sequences. On the AG-AC130 this is called 'interval mode'. I guess the NX70 does not support it. Mike Beckett March 21st, 2012, 04:44 PM Ed, there is no specific time lapse facility on the NX70, you're right. Other than recording loads of footage and speeding it up in post. Bryan Scott March 22nd, 2012, 09:35 PM Ed, Short of a Varicam or a DSLR I've never been satisfied with the results of most video cameras. However I was given this task for some traffic footage recently with my NX70. So if you want to approximate a still cameras results I'd suggest you try the following with your NX70. First if it's an outdoor daylight scene you'll want an ND filter to limit your light, second you'll want to reduce the frames per second and third you'll want to stretch out your shutter speed. Go to MENU and select | Rec/Media SET | Next Select | Frame Rate | Select | 24p | (24p is the slowest frame rate available on the NX70) Next you'll want to pick a slow shutter speed. Under | Camera Audio | Select | Shutter Speed | Select | Manual | Now use the minus button to reduce the shutter speed. In 24p mode the slowest shutter speed will be 6. Chances are your scene will become over exposed, that's where your ND filter comes in handy. I'd suggest using a Variable ND filter because F9.6 is a tight as this iris will go. Now shoot your scene and you should get a nice motion blur in you images. Next, time compress your footage in your NLE. The results I got were acceptable but I would still choose my EOS T2i running Magic Lantern for superior time lapse results. Ed Henderson March 23rd, 2012, 12:08 PM I've abandoned the NX70 option. I'm going to go with a Panasonic AC160. There are some purported focus issues, but other than that, I think it will be a great camera. More $$$ than I was originally planning to spend, but at the same time, I don't want to ever look back and say ".. shoulda got.. " Cheers. |
