Interestingly, the old Firstlight program played out to my Decklink Extreme 3D card and external HDTV but not the new Studio Pro. Am I missing a switch here?

Am I missing a switch here? Ian Lewis March 14th, 2012, 08:00 AM It works with my Blackmagic Decklink HD/SDI - was using it only yesterday. Bruce Schultz March 14th, 2012, 01:24 PM Would you care to share your settings? I am working on Mac version. Working in EDIT mode I have Playback: set to Best (Full Resolution) View: Side By Side External Display: no matter what setting I choose, SxS, OU, Left only etc it constantly reverts to NONE. This seems to be the problem. I have the Mac desktop purple space theme showing on the external HDTV (Visio 32" 3D) and it flashes black momentarily when I choose an External Display setting then reverts to NONE and nothing but that purple space theme is displayed. I have installed the latest BlackMagic drivers that I can find: Desktop Video 9.2, external display works fine in Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 and FCP X so I know it's not the BlackMagic drivers. Any suggestions are welcomed. Ian Lewis March 15th, 2012, 03:14 AM I'm working in 2D on a PC, so this might be totally different. Output is set in two different places on the view menu.I have two monitors on my Nvidia card, plus a third one connected to the Blackmagic card. If "Enable Output Card" is ticked, then my Blackmagic Decklink gets the signal. The second monitor settings are in OpenGL settings, where you can choose what, if anything, is sent to a second monitor on the graphics card. Bruce Schultz March 17th, 2012, 03:38 PM Ian, thanks for spelling that out. Since I don't have that many monitors I won't be able to try that process out. I received this note from Cineform Support about this issue: "BlackMagic is not supported with CineForm files. They have our SDK and can add this support...but it is up to them to do so as we don't do any 3rd party hardware integration any more. Instead we license our SDK to these companies for them to do their own implementation." So I guess it's up to BlackMagic Designs to fix this problem. Ian Lewis March 19th, 2012, 02:47 AM Do I infer correctly from your first post that the Mac still has the Blackmagic desktop (use the BM card as a "normal" second screen)? It was dropped (big shame) from the PC BM drivers when Vista appeared. My only further thought is that, since FirstLight on the PC has separate choices for second monitor and output card, that it's confusing the available options on the Mac. What hjappens, for instance, if you disable the second "normal" desktop in the BM driver controls? Axel Mertes March 22nd, 2012, 01:14 PM Interestingly, the old Firstlight program played out to my Decklink Extreme 3D card and external HDTV but not the new Studio Pro. Am I missing a switch here? I am on Windows 7 x64 SP1 and have a CS5.5 / GoPro Studio Professional setup and a BMD HD Extreme 3D+ card in my system. For some reasons it simply don't work at all with HD Link for capture. I think I was also unable to do any playout via PremierePro CS5.5. I plugged in an older MultiBridge Extreme via PCIe card / cable extension. That worked immediately on the same setup / driver. So I strongly believe that its an issue related to the HD Extreme 3D+ behaving differently with the same drivers than the older Decklink HD Pro cards etc. Maybe the source of the problem lies in the 3D funtionality? Its very unfortunate that Cineform / GoPro isn't taking care of this and we simply don't know if anyone at BMD is really looking into this. If not, SDI based acquisition with Cineform will become a MAJOR problem if not impossible. Its pretty ignorant to believe now in the days of file based editing that no one needs SDI IN or OUT. 99% of all our productions run via SDI links... >90% is BMD based thereof (Video Hubs, Decklinks, Multibridges, HD Link Pro's, DVI Extenders, Genlocks, etc. etc.) :( Cheers, Axel Dmitry Kitsov August 6th, 2012, 12:29 PM So are you actually using the new GoPro Studio premium (see picture attached) or is it that you are using the older version of firstlight that ships with it?
