Ok...So If I confused you; let me explain:

looking for an HD signal capable work around to plug in an external monitor to my MBP that has a Lacie Little big disk already on the Thunderbolt port.

The MBP comes with 1 Thunderbolt port. Little Big Disk is a thunderbolt drive that is daisy chainable to ANY thunderbolt device. But I have a non-apple monitor...So I was going to try this config:

MBP---thundercable---littlebigdisk----minidisplay to hdmi adapter---hdmi plug---monitor.

A little birdie that works for someone we all buy stuff from told me that a Thunderbolt splitter is coming but it may be up to a year away.

Do ya'll think that would work? I'm gonna try it tonight and will report back

Ok.

So my method didn't work. It was worth a try. Has anyone else come up with a solution?

I'm sorry to hear that set up didn't work because I was thinking of the same setup with my MBP. Currently I'm using the Tbolt port for an external monitor but FW 800 for a hard drive.

Well, if you have a Tbolt monitor (apple is the only one I know of) and you want to run a tbolt drive also, that is entirely possible. The daisy chain feature can go from a tbolt drive to a tbolt monitor. And I'm pretty sure it can go tbolt monitor to tbolt drive also. Though I don't know why you would do it that way?

It's just that you can't go from a tbolt drive to an after market monitor (yet)
