I went to download new firmware for my EX1 and EX3 last weekend, but Sony doesn't let you download it. I thought that Sony had changed it so we can download and upgrade the firmware ourselves.
I must upgrade my EX1 within the next 2 weeks so I can use a new 64GB 1A card whereas my 32GB 1A card is being used in my EX3 in addition to 4 16GB SxS cards. However, I guess that if I absolutely must, I can always use my nanoFlash for extended recording times.
Are we forced to have Sony perform the upgrade now or what?
Thanks

Uh, are you sure?
I downloaded and updated my EX1 only a couple of weeks ago. Got the firmware from the Sony Europe site.

Go to your link and click the download and you will see what I have seen - it opens up to a PDF stating that you must contact Sony for firmware upgrades.
Aha. I just went thru the UK Sony site and just downloaded the firmware upgrade.
THANKS!

Blimey, so it does. Sorry about that!
EDIT: Oh, our posts crossed! Glad you managed it! For others:
Try this one:
Sony Support Centre (http://support.sonybiz.net/software/search.aspx)
Put in PWM-EX1, click search, and then on the results page choose EX1 or EX1R as appropriate, then choose the software/drivers tab and the firmwares are all listed there, called "Binary Package".
You have to register (if you haven't before) but I just tried downloading 1.26 for the EX1 and I got the firmware, not a .pdf.
