Just bought a 744t to go with my workhorse 442 .... hopefully to ISO record the 4 channels when doing a radio camera hop

4 direct outs to 4 inputs on 744t.2 x xlr and 2 x ta3 all set to line level ...so far so good
Now i know the direct outs are post trim pre fade but when I turn down the gain/trim on any channel on the 442 and even turn down the pots on Ch1 and 2 on the 744t ..... Im still getting level into the 4 x744t channels

Im very very very confused and would really appreciate any help as I thought this was a fairly standard rig and set up ........

The trim knobs on the 442 do not fully attenuate at the direct outs.

You're saying adjusting the little knobs doesn't change gain on the 744T?

Weird.

Plug a set of cans into the 744T and listen to that audio.

Call Sound Devices Support tomorrow and run it down with them.

No - he said that they don't attenuate to zero - not that they didn't change the gain.

Thanks Jeffrery
Good to know .....couldn't figure out why I was still getting some level ...thought it was me rather than the direct outs on the 442
