Hi all,

I have had my XF300 upgraded (from original NTSC only) to film both NTSC and PAL, last year.
Now I am considering upgrading the firmware to the new 1.0.3.0.
(Current firmware in the camera is 1.0.0.1)

The question is:
Will upgrading to firmware 1.0.3.0 affect the possibilities of filming both PAL and NTSC?
Has any of you done both these upgrades? Any issues?

I have asked Canon Norway about this, and the answer was: "we don't think there will be any issues".

Have both. No problems. Just follow instructions.

I have no idea whether updating the firmware will jeopardize the NTSC/PAL capabilities. You have to rely on Canon for that. But why update to 1.0.3.0 when the update to 1.0.2.0 gives you all the functional updates? The only thing added in 1.0.3.0 is multi-language support and that does not seem worth the trouble, especially since that multi-language support takes large amounts of space on the SD card.

Thank you both for the comments!

Harm,
I didn't know it was still possible to upgrade to 1.0.2.0 since the current available firmware is 1.0.3.0.
And I agree with you, everything needed is covered in the previous firmware 1.0.2.0.

Trond, How much does that upgrade actually cost?

I had the dual PAL/NTSC upgrade done at Canon RCC in Gothenburg, Sweden, in April 2011.
It cost about 500 Euro.

Norway is a bit too far for me, but i think its possible to do it a little bit closer.
Thanks!

*Back on topic now :)

I have now done the firmware upgrade to version 1.0.3.1, and so far so good.
It is still possible to film both PAL and NTSC.
