Hi all. I did a video of a banquet in a typically lit restaurant and I got more noise than I expected. Since I was also running the DSLR for a bit, I used P mode and MXP (24 mbps). The noise isn't horrible but I do want to clean it up. My questions are:

1. Is there a better way to use the camera in low-light where I can't throw an extra light on the people?

2. What are the preferred denoisers for Premiere Pro? I have one for After Effects which works good but it's very CPU intensive and I'd have to do a roundtrip between AE and PP for most clips.

Thanks for any tips.
Kawika

A number of people like Neat Video for noise reduction. They offer plug-in versions for several NLEs. and for VD. I believe there is a demo available.

Kawika, set your max gain to 18db or 21db at most and you'll see little noise with the XA10. At 18db I get no noise, higher than 18db the noise begins.

You were using auto gain, switch to manual and set it and you'll be fine. If it's too dark, then you need light or you must go auto.

Thanks for the tip on NeatVideo and Jeff for the max gain setting. I forgot about that one. Cheers
