I have a film that's done on SD (XL-1) and I want to know what will happen if I save my exisiting DVD Studio Pro SD DVD file and change it to HD. I'm gonna try it, but if you all have answers, please let me know!

Thanks,

I exported an XL-1 shot, 480i (720x480) file via Compressor 2 as a 720p30 HDV file. It looks all right, but is obviously stretched out horizontally, ie, everyone looks "fatter." Any thoughts?

I'm guessing that the XL-1 shot wasn't 16:9 and that's what compressor is expecting. The 720P in HD conversion refers to the vertical resolution not the horizontal. Compressor is expecting more horizontal pixels and is therefore resampling the 720H pixels of your SD video out to a wider format.

What if one were to shoot with an XL-2 in native 16x9 (either in 24p or 60i), then do the output to HD via compressor?

That's exactly what I want to try when I get a chance. I think the XL-2 will upres to HDV pretty well since it's a true 16:9 camera.

Or even 10 bit uncomressed HD...
