Hey guys, hope you can help me with this one.
What are the biggest filmmaking magazines out there? In terms of "indie-type" production based stuff like Indie Slate, Filmmaker, etc... Not Variety, etc. Would like to know in terms of perceived importance.

Thanks!

Dylan,
Well, American Cinematographer, published by ASC, is the most obvious.
Cinema Editor, published by ACE would be another.
Cineffex is good magazine for special effects.
HDVideoPro is good for video equipment reviews.
DGA Quarterly is published by the Directors' Guild.
Videomaker is aimed at beginning filmmakers.

That's all I can think of right now.

Morning Dylan, or afternoon or evening I'm never sure up north.

I like this MovieMaker, I've never ordered a print copy but in terms of size, it fits right on my laptop.

Movie News, Film Reviews, Interviews, Film Festivals | Welcome to MovieMaker Magazine (http://www.moviemaker.com/)

And yes this one .. The ASC -- The ASC Magazine: Podcasts & Downloads (http://www.theasc.com/ac_magazine/podcasts.php)

Seems like all the print mags are latching onto the web. Granted it's nice to open up a magazine and read someones story
but in the digital d/load world everything is speeding up with podcasts and stuff, and some are only web based.
Sadly the latest gear is mostly dated before the postman arrives with the mail.

IMO print magazines are rapidly heading the way of the telex and the telegrams, it's a cost and keep up with the Jones thing.
You know that books are available on Kindle, eventually the kids won't know any different.

A mate is a superannuated National Geographic photographer who has a room with almost every issue. Right from the start the layouts were great
and it became a collector thing, very soon either he runs out of space or his wife backs up.

Does he ever look back through them? Not often and less when 4K becomes routine.

Playboy! .. that's different :0

Cheers.
