We film a tone of gigs in nightclubs using sliders etc but want to try
Using a crane, clubs are really tight but for big gigs
We get ropes off stage areas so we will be limited to say a 6ft to 8th jib
Was thinking about testing an eBay crane for the hell of it
Or should I straight up use a Kessler?
Has anyone ever used a jib in a club? Will also
Use it for festivals

I've just bought the Hague K-12 Multijib, which gives you three different jib lengths of about 4, 8 or 12 feet.
It also depends on the weight of your camera that you intend using on it. It will take up to 14Kg including the pan/tilt head.

I've used a Kessler for shooting videos in night clubs. You can also get enough parts to do a 5', 8', or 12' setup. You may not need 12' for the height but its nice when you want to reach out over things.
You can get some awesome shots flying over the crowd with a jib and a remote pan head.

For sure, just keep mindful of the liability of doing so:

Check out the Comely Crane. Variable lengths, adjustable in seconds by sliding it. Sets up in about 2 minutes, only 1 part (plus tripod) so no bolts to lose in a dark nightclub, decent mechanical tilt, very easy to balance. I own one, quite decent for a relatively low price. B&H sells them.

You an use a jib actually. some jibs on clubs are built in and is controlled via technical support. if you will manually control it, it could e very hard.
