Hi All,
Has anyone been able to installI Firmware V1.16 or 1.17 for the EX3? or even V.1.15?

I have been trying to install it to my two EX3s and have gone to the UK, Asian and Canadian sites and I am able to download it (it is not on the Australian, site and the US site requires that I first call the Service Centre) but when I go to install the Version Up Tool on the computer I get a message
“There is an error in the upgrade tool. Please obtain the correct upgrade tool.”
The correct firmware upgrade tool was selected.
This is on a computer that has previously successfully upgraded my EX1.

I have tried all three v.1.17 and one v.1.16 downloads for the EX3 on two computers with Vista (which already has Net Framework installed) and a XP computer which has Net Framework 4.0 installed and all give the error message.

Thanks,
Ian

I just installed 1.16 - download from UK site - to Sony EX3 without any problem.
You should download 1.16 file, after unzip (unrar)
it will give you the Mac & Win.zip file.
unzip (Win) or (Mac), you should have these files and folders (I'm using Window):
folders: amd64 & x86
files: PMW-EX3_1.16_1161.f.bin, USBSER_XDCAM_EX_1.04.inf, VersionUpTool.exe

It should work !

Thanks Tuy,
I did all that and it did not work.
I have since used a friend’s computer and have been able to upgrade the two EX3s.
I am left wondering why I could not upgrade on the three computers that I have here.
I had the right file and everthing was OK on the comoters -Window Vista and a XP but something was wrong somewhere.

Here are the two sites for V.1.17. It took a lot to find these sites.
Sony of Canada | Professional Solutions | Broadcast | Security (http://www.sonybiz.ca/solutions/Support.do)
Support : Sony Professional Solutions Asia Pacific (http://pro.sony-asia.com/section/support)
Good luck for others that are upgrading.
Maybe someone has some suggestions of why it did not work for me.
I did have Net Framework 4.0 installed.
