I know this is a really basic question, but I have a picture/ static video that has 4 different elements in it that are talked about separately in the narration of this piece. I need to highlight them as they are talked about, much like you would see on your local news whey they have have picture and are talking about one individual in it. I know this is a really basic "how to" ,but for the life of me I can't remember how to do it. It's been years since the last time I did it and I don't even know where to start this time. I'm sure it's a case of severe brain lock..... Thanks for your help...

New>Color Matte>same size as PiP, but a few pixels bigger. Make it white..
Put it under the PiP track..
Heck, put a drop shadow on the new color matte, and make it stick out...
Good luck!!!

Or use the Colorista plugin: with this you can create a simple mask to lighten or darken an area.

Thanks guys, I found what I was looking for, "track matte". I just couldn't remeber the name to save my life. If anyone knows of better ways to do this please chime in!!

Hi Jerry,
There's almost always multiple ways to do any task. I might take the clip and paste a copy of itself on the track directly above. Lower the brightness of bottom clip, and apply CROP effect to top clip as needed to select "highlight" area.
