Suggestions on what to get as far as a wide zoom on the FS100? Something 17-50 or 28-70, in that range. Would like something that opens to f/2.8.

Pretty decent review of preferred wide zooms on the F3 forum, including a sample or two. All of it will apply to the the FS100, as well.

I bought the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 constant aperture lens in alpha mount. So far I really like it. In fact, it pretty much stays on the camera at all times. I tried out a zoom in the 24-70 range and I preferred the 17-50. I also have the kit lens, should I need to use a longer zoom.
The other good thing about the Tamron is its 67mm diameter, just like the kit lens., I bought a 67mm variable ND filter, and I can use it on either lens.

Glen, do you have any footage posted anywhere with that lens on the FS100? I'm looking for something similar and that sounds like a candidate. Thanks.

David,
No, sorry, I do not have any posted videos. In fact, the lens is so new, I've only recently shot some test video outside.

Canon 16-35, 2.8 L series in EF mount is a nice short focal length zoom lens. The only issue I currently have with it is the need to set the F-Stop on my 60D body. I generally leave it @ F 2.8 and use 82mm ND filters to do any compensation for over exposure while still retaining a shallow DOF.

The A-mount Zeiss 16-35 t2.8 was my choice

I fell in love with Sony's new SAL1650 DT wide angle zoom lens. The 16-50mm f/2.8 is parfocal and has a very nice build quality.

Here is my review of the Sony 16-50mm f/2.8 on the FS100:

In addition to my Canon lenses (When, Birger?) and the Sony 16mm f2.8 and the 18-200 kit lens, I have a Tokina 28-70 ATX f2.8 with the Nikon mount. Tokina makes great lenses and I'm happy with the copy I have, which I bought used for just over $300. Of course theres no af or is.
I like the looks of the Sony version, but I'd hate to spend that money if Birger is comming out with their adapter. I have the Canon 17-55, and 70-200 f2.8, 50mm f1.4 and the Tokina 11-16 2.8, for Canon. So It looks like I'll wait for Birger.
