I am making a video where there will be lots of action and movement, so i'm going to use a Rode Video mic attached to a boom pole and then connected to my GL-2. I have the mic and camera, but the problem is what boom pole to buy? The people holding it will be most likely teenagers so it has to be light. I am also on a budget of $350 for the pole and wires. Any suggestions?

Rode is making a boom specifically for the Videomic for $80. Anyone try that?

K-Tek makes a pole of the same length, same price, same features, but a whole lot lighter... and you can probably get it from Trew also.

K-Tek Avalon in Aluminum specify internal CC.

... OR...

You can knock a hundred bucks off that price by NOT getting the internall CC, which you can't use with that mic anyway.

If I bought another boom today I'd probably go with the Gitzo 7630 (the 12' 9" carbon fiber pole)... it's around $250.

Very intresting, Grazie. You make a telescoping pole for fishermen, and it's only $35. Make the same pole for use in video and/or film, and it costs $250. Go figure.

Well, to be fair Jay, the BOOM pole IS made for the film/video industry. On the other hand, the landing net pole is made for catching slippery, fishy, slimy, scaly, cold blooded creatures, which as far as I can tell, are only interested in their next meal and prying and killing those smaller than themselves. Yeah, see the difference Jay?

I'll be the first one to endorse the carbon fiber landing net... so far I can't find one longer the 51" here in the US.

Sounds like a few "film professionals" I've come in contact with from time to time over the years, so I really don't see the difference.
