I always shoot 30p. Mostly because I love the look. But, what situations whould I be better off shooting in 60i? Are there situations where I am potentially 'boxing' myself into a corner with 30p? (i.e. de-interlacing situations?)

My projects are for private use, not broadcast. However I wouldn't mind doing a few projects that could potentially be considered for broadcast. Recommendations? What do you shoot in and why? Thanks in advance.

I always shoot 60i. You can always deinterlace later.

Especially if you think you might ever go out to any form of optical media (disc), I can't think of any reason to shoot p.

But if you like the progressive look, you should do what you like.

Won't 30P result in less artifacting with scenes like moving water and blowing trees? De-interlacing won't reduce artifacting after the fact will it? (Obviously I haven't tried that experiment).

Why would it reduce artifacting? It's the same data/compression rate.
