View Full Version : Rome Season 1 Yi Fong Yu August 29th, 2005, 08:17 PM anyone catching this? looks very interesting. lots of sex+violence. i liked how the story begins in medias res. Lisa Shofner March 28th, 2007, 11:43 AM I know, very late in the thread. Rome was my ultimate favorite show on TV. Anyone know why it was cancelled? I figured because of the cost, and time, etc to make the season. Haven't read anything on the reasons though. Yi Fong Yu April 1st, 2007, 10:50 PM i believe it was cost. very expensive to be on the real location+tons of CG for the battle scenes. much more ambitious than they originally intended. Glenn Davidson April 2nd, 2007, 12:13 AM Follows Carnival and Dead Wood. At least the Sopranos are back. Steven Gotz April 2nd, 2007, 07:53 AM I like the idea that a series ends when the story is at an end. The story was the friendship of two men and what was happening around them. One man dies, that ends the story. Yes, there are enough other characters that a new story could take over, but it was a buddy movie, plain and simplae. Anything else would be a different show. Lisa Shofner April 2nd, 2007, 09:23 AM I agree that it did wrap up nicely. The loose ends were tied and everything came together well. I'm only upset that it's over. I know it was horribly expensive, I don't think there was anything comparable to it on television. There are just so few shows worth watching these days, it is always sad when one ends. Especially as it was only on for two season. At least we have DVDs. I hope it will be released in HD-DVD or BluRay this year. That would be the best! Steven Gotz April 2nd, 2007, 09:46 AM I am not really sure if "Tudors" will prove to be it's equal, but the raw energy of the new show on Showtime is certainly a possible contender. Nate Schmidt April 3rd, 2007, 10:19 AM I agree with Steven, The story was over and therefore the show ended well. I think more shows should do that, pick a story and tell it well then end it, but that's a whole different discussion :D. Anyways Rome was definitely one of my favourite shows and I look forward to the DVD's. |
