just to piggyback my own thread I was wondering what options were out there for HDV playback of JVC footage? Is it either my camera or the BR-HD50u and thats it? or are there other options? Firewire I mean.

I have the jvc cu-vh1:
JVC Professional Press Releases page (http://pro.jvc.com/prof/attributes/press_res.jsp?model_id=MDL101457&feature_id=08)
You could go with a component video capture too using a blackmagic intensity card.

yeah I have the BM card already im just looking for better options. I dont think you can still find that deck anywhere. I may just get my 100 fixed or put up the money for a BR-HD 50.

I hope I didn't point you at this too soon...as it has its issues. One is 720p24. It can't play it back on screen, but you at can still capture it off the tape and hear the aud while its capturing or playing from tape.

well to be honest at that price I might as well get a BR-HD50. I was hoping maybe other camcorders out there may play the JVC tapes but it doesnt look like it.
