Thank you for posting that, beautiful footage. Did you grade any in post, or was that all in camera? I hope to get a steady cam for shortly after I get my camera.

Will your new camera be the FS100?

I'm waiting for the Nov 3rd canon announcement, to see if they are bringing an s35 camera in the $5k price range. If they do, ill have to decide between the FS100 and that. But if not, Im sold on the FS100, and will be buying. I've been saving for a while for the FS100, but figure it can't hurt to see want Canon might offer.

I've been looking at a bunch of different support gear for whatever camera I was going to get, and a steady cam was at the top of my list.

I also don't see any harm in waiting. It's good to have options when choosing your next camera! They cost a lot of money, so it's good to take your time and choose a camera that will last a few years and fits your needs. For me that's the FS100. But who knows what the camera market will look like in a couple of years.

Not to get off topic but I just got the DVrig JR. off classifieds. Wow this is great for the FS100. I did two wedding with the FS100 and my back was killing me hand holding the camera. I don't know about Canon but I love the FS100. The image is so beautiful.

I have two questions.

Does this 16 mm pancake have an optical stabilisation, and if yes, did you use it?

What framrate do you use when using the steadicam? is see nothing like judder, so suppose it's not 25p...

The 16mm pancake does not have optical stabilisation. But you don't need it when the camera is on the Steadicam.
And you are right about the framerate. It's 50i and not 25p.

I did some test Steadicam Merlin flying the other day with a bare bones FS100 with the pancake. It actually worked pretty well. I didn't have a 'recipe' so I just winged it and it didn't take too long to get it balanced. I used the 60P mode so I'd have an option to slow it down a bit, and I used a fast shutter speed.

One thing, I didn't have a microphone, didn't want the added weight or changing the GG. So I missed sound. I did just adapt a small mic that just plugs into the XLR 1 port, so at least I could have some reference sound.

I think it has very good flying potential.

One thing I noticed a bit, and I'm not sure why, but I noticed a slight flickering. I'm pretty sure everything was 'locked down' but I did notice it a bit, I'll have to see if it happens again.

If I get a chance I may post some the footage.

Where did you notice the flickering? While filming on the LCD screen or in editing?
