I have a thread going in the POV camera section but very little feedback. Maybe Nano owners that also have POV cameras spend more time here.

And Dan I'm sure would like to find out the answer too as always, he hung on the phone trying to figure this out with me last Sunday until my Replay HD cam battery died. It was at least 20 minutes. So much appreciated! He actually took the time to get Replay user info in front of him while I re-pushed all the format cycle buttons on the camera. I told him I would get back with what I found out when I heard from Replay support. I talked to them on Monday but still waiting, nothing yet after a second call and additional formal email support question.

Problem: The Nano is only showing 1080i whether or not the Replay HD is chosen to be on 1080 30.....or what I bought the camera expecting to be using.....720 60P. At 100mbs long GOP.

Dan, since then I immediately confirmed my large camcorder when switched to 720P indeed did reflect that on the Nano display, so no problem with your gear.

A person on the other forum 3 days ago said he believed all the POV small cameras... GoPro, Replay, Contour etc.... only passed 1080i.

That same day I managed to actually talk to a person in tech support at Replay HD. They state right on their website you can pass the progressive formats from HDMI out to a separate digital recorder. It was his immediate opinion as well and that was his understanding from the engineers, yes the progessive formats are passed. He was going to check with them but I am still waiting and gear is leaving Monday for a shooting trip at speed on open, hopefully not too rough water on a big lake.

Understandably 720 60P is really really my preferred format to shoot for this. I will not shoot on the internal card. Will use Nano at 1080i 100mbs if I have to. Final display is a very revealing high quality projection at 8.5' wide 16x9. Looks tremendous when the images are great but as well shows all the warts and artifacts if they're there.

Is anyone here getting progressive out, especially from the Replay, or any other current consumer POV?

When we were testing, over the phone, the frame rate (vidio output) of Replay HD camera did not seem to change when you changed the frame rate on the camera.

According to the following link, you should be able to achive, at least

1080p30
720p30
720p60

Please call back and we will try again to get your camera working with the nanoFlash.

The nanoFlash does reliabily report the actual frame rate that the camera is sending.

I agree, because that link and the posted tech information from their site was a major reason I bought their unit. I want to use 720 60P straight to Nano. I wish to heck they were one tenth as good at support as you are for Convergent. No, actually my projected display, as well as earlier the small 5" Marshall monitor, was showing the Replay unit changing between 1080 30P, 720 30P, 720 60P and its other formats. It was the Nano that stayed at 1080i.

But as I mentioned above, when we got off the phone due to dead battery on the Replay, I confirmed with my pro camcorder that when I changed its format to 720 60P the Nano did indeed reflect the change. Something is going on with the HDMI out. As mentioned also, one person copied below, on the POV camera forum thought that all these little consumer POV cameras only put out 1080i from HDMI.

This is pretty common for low cost cameras like GOPro, Replay, Contour etc."

Thank you for the kind words. We try hard to provide world class support.

Almost all cameras output PSF (Progressive Segmented Frames) when set for 1080 progressive modes.

This looks like interlaced to a monitor but is not.

PSF does not apply for 720.

Your camera was not switching between 1080 and 720, as far as I could tell, which indicates a problem somewhere.

We discussed performing a reset on the camera. That may be the next step.

For 720p60 and 720p30 you will not need to set the nanoFlash Video|Record PSF > Prog(ressive) option. It should be left unchecked.

For 1080p30, you will need to set the nanoFlash Video|Record PSF > Prog(ressive) option.

I believe I had everything in the Nano menu set to what you recommended with regard to PSF boxes being checked. But maybe not.

*Record PSF>Prog Box is unchecked
*Play Prog>PSF Box is unchecked
*Remove 3:2 Pulldown Box is unchecked
*720p 60/50>30/25 Box is unchecked

The monitor and the projector were not showing interlaced, the Nano display does. They were showing everything correct on the Replay settings.

The camera WAS switching between the modes correctly. Angle of view changed to wider with 720 vs narrower with 1080.

We did discuss a reset, and the paperclip sized hole to do it is pointed out on their schematic. But I could not find any instructions on proper way to do it, and decided to wait until I got ahold of support person at Replay to see what he said first. Which I did on Monday now 4 days ago. He agreed with you and their site literature that it should work as you describe and I had read prior to purchase. So here I am stuck. Left a second, more urgent message today additionally on the Application Specialist extension (Sales) that I am running out of time to figure this out.

I'm sure you saw it as have posted twice now the Nano shows 720 60P just fine on Sony PMW 320 when it is changed to that format.

Am I correct on the (all) unchecked boxes above?

The crickets keep chirping at Replay meantime.

The couple resets I tried did not help. But finally I was able again to speak with the same tech person at Replay shortly after you and I spoke and you helped me with the audio input settings for the external mic. BTW, the one channel I could not get on the ear buds, with the mono mic feeding both left and right channels, is due to the earphones. I tested them on something else. Time for 3rd set of those too..... grrrrrrrrr!!!! Etymotic ER-6s. Wimpy ass cables to the ear pieces!!

The person at Replay confirmed they have confirmed they will pass the progressive formats from the HDMI without a doubt. However he has to talk with the engineers and get back to me on Monday. It may actually be a later firmware update that is needed. I just had this shipped 3-4 weeks ago from them but maybe it had been in the packaging awhile, while updates were continuing.
