Just wondering which slider you all recommend. We are looking to add one to our wedding gear.

We were hoping to get a shorter one that requires only one tripod -- I was looking at the Indislider Mini, but thought I would ask others' opinions.

We shoot with HMC150s, and I wasn't sure if that was too big for the Indislider. I like the price, but would be willing to pay more if there is a better one that people like.

Atlas FLT 10 is best in my opinion. I have tried many and in terms of weight and strength and smoothness FLT is best in my opionion

I quite like the look of the Glidetrack Shooter HD, i've just got the standard HD glidetrack at the moment but it is a tad bulky.

Atlas 30 is the best I've tried, but it takes two tripods to set it up, or you shoot from the ground,
to use one tripod get the lightest one, probably indislider, not the best quality, but it can be setup on one tripod and it does the job

I can second the Konova. It's a great price and works like butter.

I disagree on the Konova. It will do the job but with the weight of your camera I don't know. It's way too stiff for me and my start and stops were never as good as on a DP slider or Cinevate. I also found that I had to do shots more than once to get it right. Not with with the DP or Atlas. One is all it takes. The DP Slider is smooth like glass and the Atlas 30 is probably my favorite!! You'll only have to buy one and it will last a lifetime. Get the best one you can!

I bought the IndieSlider and it was a total waste of money. Then I bought the DPslider and it's awesome.

What is everyone using to mount these sliders? Most 'behind the scenes' videos of any weddings I've seen people just use them flat on the ground or put them on available chairs. I would think even using a tripod set up is just too much to carry around.

Also how do guests or the couple react when you bring the slider in the room or around them? I see people online using them in the preparation rooms and I would think it would be just a huge distraction unless it was a large room.

I haven't used the DP or Cinevate, but I imagine they are better build quality, however for function and cost, I found the Konova to be what I needed. Also, the Konova does come in a bit firm, however you can adjust it to your needs with the included instructions. True, it probably wouldn't support larger cameras, but again, my needs it was the best bet.

I do look forward to being able to invest in a motion controlled slider in the future. Precise moves and slider-lapses. Mmmmm.

Well this has been helpful. The Atlas series is out of our price range, but the DP and The Konova are right in there. For those of you using the Konova, are you shooting on DSLR, or video cams or what? Our HMC150s are probably about 6 lbs with the large battery and mics attached.

The DP Slider website has very little information on it...just pictures, prices and "buy" buttons. I am definitely only interested in a slider that requires one tripod...two is just too cumbersome, and like Travis said, I don't want to be a huge distraction when using it.

Sadly the best slider that I have used is the Philip Bloom Signature Edition Kessler Pocket Dolly. Happily it appears to be impossible to order one so I haven't been able to blow $1000+. The regular Pocket Dolly is very good too.

The Glidetrack HD Hybrid is very smooth but a bit heavy. I wish that they would bring out the promised hybrid carriage upgrade for the SD track as I would buy one like a shot.

The Konova was OK when I first bought it but now it sticks. The legs never screwed on properly It is poorly made (it gave me a metal splinter!). Don't waste your money even if it does look cool in the custom black bag with orange trim.

Whichever slider you get if you want to use it with just one tripod then don't get a one yard/meter one. 18 inch/50cm can be quite long enough if used correctly certainly no more than about 27"/75cm. You may think that the longer the better & that you are getting more for your money but you don't need long slides especially if you make sure that you have something in the foreground to emphasise the movement.

EZ-Slider. The shortest one is plenty long and makes carrying it around very easy. It also mounts vertically.

The tension is totally adjustable.I have adjusted the bearings with the tools provided. In fact I needed to do that as soon as I unpacked the slider as it was so stuck the carriage wouldn't move at all. It works OK for a short while & then sticks again usually in the middle of some crucial shot. In addition no matter how hard you tighten up the nuts that hold the legs on they are always loose. I can't rely on it so have stopped using it. I have been very disappointed as at first glance it does seem a good price & is a novel design as it doesn't use the Igus track like most other cheap sliders.

I highly recommend the Konova as well. Obviously there are going to be better ones, but it's a matter of deciding how much you want to spend. I initially bought an indiSLIDER but it was absolutely terrible for so many reasons...never buy one. I think for the price, you can't beat the Konova. Yes, the legs suck and tend to be loose sometimes, I've been meaning to try to remedy this for months, but I don't find it to be that much of a hassle.

I've been using my Konova since late April every weekend sometimes twice a weekend and it's been great. Recently I found it getting stuck near the one end and I think I had some dust/crap buildup under the bearings so I cleaned it all out and it's good to go again.

there is also SlyderDolly from Digital Juice. I haven't used it but it looks promising. From what I've used Kessler's Pocket Dolly is at the top of my list.
