Going from Wide to Tele, starting with a gently twist of the Zoom Ring, should I get an abrupt start to the zoom-in? I've never had a Zoom Ring before. Is it something I should expect to happen?

I've noticed that as well. However, if you just start the zoom a tiny bit tighter or wider you'll get a perfectly smooth start.

Thanks Robin, I'll give your suggestion a Spin, I mean Twist. Kinda makes sense.

Also I'm going to check that put if focus on zoom in mentioned in another thread, but on a shoot last night I was starting to see this too. Hmmm.....
