I just transferred clips from the fmu 128 flash memorey drive to the pc, and removed the drive from the fs100 before conneting it by usb cable. I notice that there's a small usb plug on the camera itself, towards the back of where the flash unit sits, and right under the xlr input. Can you capture directly from that plug without removeing the flash memory from the pc.?
Thanks

Interesting question....

I'm not using the 128GB Sony flash unit, but I often dump my SD card to an USB HDD in the field - works great! FYI, I'm recording redundantly to the nanoFlash, but still considering to give it up (need the nF for other purposes), and buy the 128GB flash unit...

I guess I'll just have to try it.

No.
You can use the camera to transfer clips from a memory card, but you cannot use the camera to transfer clips from the FMU. The FMU must be removed from the camera and connected directly to your computer via USB. This, and other FMU oddities, are covered in my training DVD. Mastering the Sony NEX-FS100 training DVD (http://www.vortexmedia.com/DVD_FS100.html)

Thanks, Doug. I'll order your dvd.
I somehow lost the plastice cover that comes with the camera and needs to be removed in order to put in the drive. Any idea where I can get a replacement?
Thanks
