Hi, can anyone answer this?
I'm working with some people who are Mac only, If I export Cineform avi ( or mov?) from my Windows machine ( I have Neo), can they get a free decoder to let them use them in Final CutX?
thanks for any advice.

I'm not sure how well a CineForm AVI would work in Final Cut. However, I've had perfect success converting the AVI to MOV on the Windows PC first (using the re-wrapping functions of HD Link), then opening the MOV versions of the files in Final Cut after installing the free NEO player codec. Works like a charm, and no transcoding is needed, just the proper wrapping as a MOV format file.

For anyone who's interested, I can confirm that Final Cut Pro X won't import CineForm AVI files, even though QuickTime will play them. (Again, this is contingent upon having the free Neo player codec installed.)

FCP 7 and X really work best with MOVs not AVIs.
