I saw this last week, and while I like the idea a lot, the commercial tracks are on the expensive side for event video producers and such, compared to sites like Triplescoop.com and the like. But there does seem to be a nice assortment to chose from.

Yeah there is a great choice available.
Vimeo Plus users get 1 free track to start with. $1.99 seems pretty fair to me for a one time deal. If the songs get used on commercial projects you'd have to buy the more expensive license (but we can assume that would be budgeted for anyway).

Simon the $1.99 is fair.
But for most event jobs, say a wedding, the extra music cost isn't budgeted for.
For our live events, we generally use 98% of the actual audio, but it's remixed.
A few music pieces are used though for openings and highlight portions of the video.
We do budget for music that we purchase, and have found some good royalty free music with vocals as well (ie, from redbeard.com, triplescoopmusic.com etc.). And while $98 a piece isn't too bad, it would be an even better thing if Vimeo gave a tiered discount to our music purchase. Say buy 5 tracks and save 30%, but 10 tracks and save 50% or such.
