Hey everyone,

The Sony EX1 I use isn't going into USB mode when I plug in the camera to both a Mac and a PC. Is the USB port on the camera having problems? It worked last night. Cards are in place, etc. Last night, we ejected the folders without any problems.

Original EX1? The USB port is in an AWFUL location and I have seen more than one EX1 USB port get screwed up when the handle was accidentally twisted with the USB cable connected, thereby breaking the port. Do you have access to an SxS card reader to make sure there aren't any issues with the cards? (Which I doubt...)

Yeah, that's what I thought -- the location plus the cover came off. I know some HDV cameras/decks, you couldn't plug or unplug the FireWire/iLink cable while it was on, but I never had a problem like that with the EX1. It's original.

Checking tomorrow with a card reader.

I hot plug USB ALL THE TIME with no issues... think it's just a NASTY lack of planning on the original... Good luck!

Taking it in soon; it's been 2 years since it's been in, so it needs its annual checkup. I'll let you know.
