Some footage of the VG20 at IFA as well as some sample footage shot with the camera:

I think it's a very nice looking camera, and it's just big enough to actually remind people you're shooting a movie (something DSLRs always have a problem with).

But you'll have the opposite problem - people won't pose for photos because they won't know it's a still camera too ;-)
The more I see of this camera, the more ideal it seems for the low budget filmmaker tired of trying to turn a DSLR/DSLT/DSLM form-factor camera into a camcorder.
No more loupes -- and no more workarounds for missing headphone jacks.

That's my hope too Bill. I do like the DSLR form factor in some situations, and I like the ease of use - but I've really come to miss shooting with a "true" video camera.
And as much as I would like to get a FS100, $5,000 for any 8-bit camera seems too much given the market (and poor economy) right now.

Sony needs better trained personnel at their displays. This guy seemed to be stymied by most of the questions asked of him. Although, in his defense, the questions were asked in a quick, machine-gun style.
So you can now use the camera monitors, as well as an external monitor, at the same time. That's a nice feature (among many new ones).

So the question is can the camera monitor be always clean?
I worry that an LCD usually shows something -- even if only the red recording light.
