View Full Version : Stepping into Pan & Scan

I've been putting together some photo montages, using the Pan & Scan feature, which seems to produce much higher quality imports and moves than simply importing a JPEG into the AVID drive, putting it on the time line, and laying a resize effect down with keyframes.

However; I'm finding that once I bring a photo in thru Pan & Scan, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to manipulate the image by stepping into the effect. It allows me to step in, lay a CC or color effect on the video, render it and step out, but shows no effect on the image. Perhaps not coincidentally, the image I'm trying to doctor up does not appear in the monitor while I'm stepped in a level.

Often in these kinds of odd situations there is a definite operator error moment happening...but if so, I can't figure it out...and also see no reference in the voluminous "Help" entries about P&S to altering the color or exposure of the image.

Any ideas? Anyone else want to try it and see what they get? I am still laboring under Media Composer 3.5.

What you want to do is stack your color correction or whatever effect you are using on TOP of the Pan and Zoom effect. Hold down "Alt" when dragging the effect onto to the clip to stack it.

Interesting, Yossi. I'll give that a try!

Yossi:

Bingo. Stacking is the trick.

Thanks for the help!
