I've been looking at the FS-CF but can't find any images of it mounted to the Canon XH-A1. Where do you mount it? What's to prevent the FW cable from being yanked out by mistake?

Roger Van Duyn July 29th, 2011, 06:37 AM I don't have the Firestore, but have a recorder from another manufacturer. What I use to mount the recorder for my XHA1 is a metal box attached to the base of the camera, with the tripod quick release attached to the bottom of the box. The box I use is from a company called SHAPE. Here's a link : SHAPE Shape Box BOX1 B&H Photo Video I have also velcroed the battery to the outside of the box. By the way, the red writing on the box matches perfectly the red stripe on the Canon Lens. It looks cool! Bill Edmunds July 29th, 2011, 06:44 AM Thanks for the info. How does the unit stay in the box (without falling out)? Could you post a pic or two showing the complete setup? Thanks! Roger Van Duyn July 31st, 2011, 07:32 PM I use a little bit of velcro to hold the drive inside. I don't remember if the box came with some, or if I used some I already had. Plus, there is neoprene padding the inside of the box. It's very well made. I'll try to post a picture soon. Everything is packed in the trunk of my car for an early morning shoot. Not sure if they would hold the FS-CF as I don't know the dimensions of the box. They come in 2 sizes though and if you shoot on a tripod a lot the extra handle on the front is great. Quite a bit more expensive though. Jase Tanner August 10th, 2011, 12:59 PM I have one of these: Mighty Wondercam (Videosmith) Aux Box for Rover R05 B&H Photo I it use for a rather large AT wireless receiver. It has plastic screws which will safely apply enough pressure to keep it in there. I know you can also order an attachment which acts as a handle of sorts and I believe has a shoe at the top of it. I don't know if the FS-CF would fit or not. |
