Just what is the bit depth of the HDMI signal coming from the 5D during standby? 4:2:2 or 4:2:0?
some interesting things. Running AJ 5.8 firmware I do get a completely clean image using "kill overlay",
here is where it gets interesting. NINJA says that it takes the HDMI and processes the signal through hardware and lays down ProRes 4:2:2 files .mov files. So I record a few HQ flavors on the disk. as a side note, I can not find any piece of software that can analyze the .mov file to tell me the details such as i or p, bit depth or rate, etc.
But, when I import to Neo to do a pull down, in the log report it creates when converting, it says that a 4:2:0 file has been read and it is up converting to 4:2:2 10 bit.
then it gets a little weirder, i drop the file into PP 5 and if the project timeline settings are on 23.976 the file info shows the converted file as 29.976, if I change the timeline settings to 29.976 and check the file info again, PP says the file is now 23.976?
If I use a file analyzer for .avi's it tells me that the file uses cineform codec, its 23.976. So it looks like I will be posting in the PP forum, the Cineform forum, and talking to NINJA to ask why Cineform says the prores file is 4:2:2
any insights?
