View Full Version : FCPX Archive from tape audio issue on older tapes

I have been using the archive feature in FCPX to import HDV tapes shot on my XHa1 and everything has gone as expected... until I put in some older tapes shot in the late 80's, early 90's, and some were transfers from VHS tapes shot in the mid-seventies. The audio is not coming through, although it's there on the XHa1 meter's and I can adjust the volume on the camera. After trying a couple of the older tapes I put back in one of the more recent and the audio was fine.

I'm questioning whether it's related to FCPX; or more likely some adjustment I need to make.
Any thoughts appreciated- thanks!

Is there no audio after you import clips from the archive into an Event in FCPX?

I've had issues with standard def miniDV tapes where if I create an archive from the tape, and then view the clips in that archive in the finder (right click > show package contents) the clips have no audio when opened in quicktime. However if I open that archive inside of FCPX and then import into an event, the audio is there.
